Term 1 2023 Newsletter

What an amazing start to the year we have had. We hope all our gymnasts, coaches and families are enjoying our new facilities that we all worked so hard to see become a reality.

As a not-for-profit every single dollar we raise, is reinvested back into our club for the benefit of our gymnasts. For those that don’t know, our building is leased from the City of Gold Coast at minimal cost as we are a not-for-profit. However, as part of lease agreement we are contracted to cover all costs in order to keep the 50 year old building maintained and safe. Council has given us a list of requirements and we will be working to attend to these, starting with work on the pylons under the club in the coming weeks.

On top of this we are of course fundraising for more equipment, our focus initially being on a new beat board for vault and a Spieth Uneven Bar Spotting Platform for our fundraising efforts for the first six months of the year. An Uneven Bar Spotting Platform will allow our coaches closer access to spot our gymnasts safely on the uneven bars.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered at our Bunnings BBQ on the weekend and all our wonderful supporters and gymnasts who have purchased raffle tickets. We are pleased to announce that from both fundraising initiatives in Term 1 we raised $2356.67. The committee will begin sourcing quotes for our first equipment purchase. See the list of winners below.

We’d love you to continue to help throughout the year. Here are some ways you can help us:

  • Volunteer at a Bunnings sausage sizzle (Term 2 date TBA)

  • Donate a raffle prize

  • Donate money direct to the club

  • Offer your services – (trades, skills, creativity, anything you can donate timewise we’d love to hear)

  • Offer your professional services at a discount

Send us an email to committee@southportgymnastics or talk to one of our committee members next time you’re in the club.
